Sensory Integration Clinic
This is a truly unique setting….
the only one of its kind in Kansas City!
Hard time paying attention?! Difficulty sleeping at night?
Excessive energy or seem bored all of the time?
Difficulty hearing someone who is right beside them?
This clinic is dedicated to understanding each person’s unique central nervous system make-up and how their own bodies process information from the world around them. We develop programs specifically for each client, to address these concerns and more, so they are able to carry over and supplement ideas at home to help them function in their everyday environments.
Intensive services that are designed to help clients learn to modulate and regulate their sensory systems are provided. Fun, innovative exercises by highly trained therapists.
GROUPS
Social Skills Groups…….
Children learn best from other children. In these groups, children interact with children of all ability levels. They learn skills such as turn taking, sharing, and communication through verbal skills, body language, and eye contact. These groups give children the opportunity to fully participate in all activities without limitations and feel comfortable in a group setting. Each session includes songs and music, art projects, motor and sensory activities. The groups are specifically designed for ages from 2-6 years of age. Each group has a 1 to 3 staff to child ratio so the groups may vary somewhat in size but each child is assured of getting the attention they want and need. Parent participation in optional and is dependent upon the goals of the family, and the needs of the child. Parent involvement is certainly encouraged, but it is also seen as a valuable time that parents and caregivers can use to give themselves a break.
Sensory Skills and Motor Groups…….
These groups are designed for children whose sensory systems are still developing and would benefit from group activities as all children do, but in an environment that can be adapted to fit their unique make-up. Each child is encouraged to participate fully in activities designed to help increase sensory tolerance as well as create opportunities for those seeking more sensory inputs. Ideas are developed and shared as how to help carry over into the home environment. Motor planning, coordination and balance activities help children practice playing in a safe, comfortable environment and learn basic skills that carry over to everyday home activities. Children of all ability levels are encouraged to attend and we have a 1 to 3 ratio of staff to children. Parent participation is optional.
One-on-one Therapy services…..
For children and families who prefer to receive therapy services in a center based environment or for evaluations and assessments, they can choose to have these services provided at the center.
Cranial Sacral and Massage services….
We have a highly skilled therapist who can provide these services at our center. She works with individuals of all ages and has received advanced training and is certified in both skill areas. A massage is even a wonderful treat while a child is in a group!
